Why is it so important to learn conversational Spanish? First of all there are millions of people worldwide who speak Spanish and not all of them speak English. Secondly South America, Cuba and Spain are the places worth to visit. It is also great to taste the local food, to talk with the local people and to understand what is written in public places. The advantage is that Spanish is not a difficult language, there are many Spanish words which are similar to the English ones, and only the pronunciation may differ a bit. If one likes to learn foreign languages and is persistent then it is only a matter of time to speak basic Spanish.
