Within the stomach our food is enclosed by the stomach lining which serves as a protective shield against this strong acid that is produced to break down our foods; acid reflux symptom however the esophagus leading to the stomach and where the food and fluids pass is not designed to deal with it. The heartburn arrives if even a small amount of this acid seeps past the stomach valve, which is like a one way valve, thus heartburn can occur.
