Tomato Packing uses High Resolution
July 6, 2010 1:38 pm Computers and TechnologyTomato packing has added high resolution cameras to scan the tomato as it moves along the system. The scan produces multiple images of each tomato to compile a complete image. A computer uses the image to calculate precise sizing of the fruit to reduce the number of mechanical and human steps needed to sort a tomato before it is packed. Technology shows that it is useful in many aspects of the tomato industry to reduce handling and increase profits. Upgrading to a technologically advanced system increases the ability of the packer to be efficient when sorting the fruit.
