I am constantly amazed that people think that the best way to invest in gold is to buy gold shares. At a recent discussion with some friends several of them mentioned  they had dipped their toe in the gold market by purchasing some shares. When I asked them if they knew anything about the companies they had invested in four of them admitted they had made the purchase on the basis of a tip or recommendation from a friend. When I suggested they consider gold bullion investing alternatives I got a couple of blank stares. Buying gold bullion does not contain the same risk associated with gold companies and is my personal preferred method for investing in gold.
